Position Title: Part-Time Communications & Technology Outreach Missioner, bilingual preferred

Reports To: Clergy and Vestry

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Communications & Technology Outreach Missioner at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit provides communications support to the clergy, vestry, and lay leaders. This position helps ensure the smooth daily operation of the parish office, supports worship and ministry activities, and serves as a warm, welcoming first point of contact for members, guests, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Publications, in English and Spanish

  • Prepare and distribute a weekly e-newsletter and/or printed newsletter.
  • Update the church website and social media with current announcements, worship times, and events (or coordinate with volunteers who do so).
  • Create simple flyers, posters, and handouts for parish events and programs.
  • Consult with other churches to select projection and livestream technology systems and learn how to use them.
  • Prepare weekly digital bilingual service bulletins to project on screen.
  • Support multi-media worship: livestreaming, projecting.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries in a courteous, pastoral manner and route messages to the appropriate person.
  • Maintain the parish calendar (worship, meetings, events, and building use) and communicate updates as needed.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper files for directory & mailing list.
  • Notify treasurer when supplies or repairs are needed.

Confidentiality & Pastoral Sensitivity

  • Handle sensitive information (pastoral concerns, giving records, personal information) with strict confidentiality.
  • Interact with parishioners and visitors with kindness, patience, and hospitality that reflects the mission and values of Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit.

Qualifications

Required

  • Previous communications and technology experience, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, a basic layout program such as Publisher or Canva, Excel,Wordpress, email, and internet).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet regular deadlines (especially for weekly bulletins and newsletters).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Episcopal worship and liturgical terms, or willingness to learn.
  • Experience with church management or database software, or willingness to learn.
  • Basic layout/design skills for bulletins, newsletters, and flyers.

Hours & Schedule:

  • Hours: Approximately 14-15 hours per week.
  • Sunday: 10:30-12:30, one Sunday per month 10:30-2:30
  • Tuesday-Friday: 12 hours, flexible schedule

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly wage starting at $27.50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
  • No additional benefits are offered other than those required by law.
